Email to SMS allows you to use your email client (MS Outlook, Gmail or any other email client) to send and receive SMS messages.
This is a great interface for people comfortable with using email. It also allows for multiple people to use the system - a powerful tool for office communication. Once registered follow the email setup steps and you are ready to send from your email client. Replies to an SMS can automatically be forwarded to an email address of your choice.
This feature allows you to extend SMS to your desktop. By using your email client to send SMS's you can easily communicate with one person or groups of people while using a familiar interface. This page allows you to enter in one or more email address that you will send from for Email to SMS.
As this is a 2way platform, responses to the SMS will be sent to the email account of your choice. When you respond to these reply emails they will automatically be converted back to an SMS and sent to the responder's phone.
Step 1: GO to the 'Advanced Features' section and CLICK 'Email to SMS settings'
Step 2: ENTER 'Email address' from which you will send. This address must appear in the from line of the email. Check email client for instructions. To test send an email to yourself and see what address is in the address.
Step 3: ENTER 'Password' to be used with each email address. This password will need to be part of the subject. For security purposes, change regularly.
Step 4: SMS replies to email - This address will receive all replies, not just those replies that are to emailed SMSs.
Step 5: ENTER the email address in 'Forward replies to'.
Step 6: CLICK 'Update'
Step 7: CLICK 'read the Help' for detailed information on sending SMS's from Email.
Once you have added one or more email addresses and passwords to the Email setup, you can send messages from virtually any email client (Outlook, Eudora, etc.) or a Web Mail platform (Yahoo or Hot Mail).
Password in subject - This is the easiest way to get started. Include the password in the Subject line of the email. This is the password that was set in Email setup. Make sure that the From field of the emails that you send contain the email address that you chose for authentication. To verify the From field, send an email to yourself and see what address the From field contains.
We advise that you change the password regularly. Sending your password in an email is insecure, changing this frequently will better protect you. For most customers this level of security will be adequate. If you require a higher level of security use Method 2.
Sending the message - You can send the message to one or more phones. Enter the email address as country code and number (no spaces or leading zero) i.e. 27820030101@2way.co.za or #@bulksms.co.uk or #@bulksms.net
The message has a limit of 160 character. Characters included in the message over 160 will be deleted.
Send the email and it will appear as an SMS on the receiving phone.
